BHC provides ongoing support to cities and towns across Washington as they undertake periodic updates to their Shoreline Master Programs (SMPs) in accordance with the Washington State Department of Ecology. BHC planners serve as trusted intermediaries between the Department of Ecology and the shoreline communities we serve, whether an SMP update involves routine review or substantial updates. We are well-versed in navigating the Department of Ecology’s grant management system, submitting quarterly progress reports and reimbursement requests, building rapport with Ecology’s grant managers, and enacting Ecology’s joint review process. Our goal is to ensure an efficient and accessible SMP update process by helping to resolve regulatory conflicts and ensure that all plans work in concert to protect Washington’s shorelines.
