BHC supports cities and towns as they embark on periodic Shoreline Master Program review under the guidance of the Washington State Department of Ecology. BHC planners serve as an intermediary between the Department of Ecology and the shoreline communities we serve, whether an SMP update involves routine review or great complexity. We are well-versed in navigating the Department of Ecology’s grant management system, submitting quarterly progress reports and reimbursement requests, building rapport with Ecology’s grant managers, enacting Ecology’s new joint review process, and generally making the SMP update process run as smoothly as possible for our clients, by helping to resolve regulatory conflicts, and ensure that all plans work in concert to protect Washington’s shorelines.
