As part of the City of Gold Bar’s periodic review of its Shoreline Master Program (SMP), BHC prepared and implemented a public participation plan culminating in an open house to bring residents into the planning process. We facilitated a joint review between the City and Department of Ecology to update the SMP in compliance with applicable updates to state statutes. We utilized the City’s Department of Ecology grant to prepare an analysis checklist, manage the department’s stringent grant requirements, and draft changes to the SMP. Outreach included multi-day poster display at City Hall and an open house prior to a City Council meeting. BHC coordinated the project with the Department of Ecology, submitted department deliverables on behalf of the City, preparing quarterly reports and reimbursement requests through Ecology’s EAGL system. We also reviewed the City’s restoration plan to ensure that it was as up to date as possible, and the City Council unanimously adopted the revisions in 2019. BHC prepared all Department of Ecology deliverables on time and within the grant budget, retaining certification of the City’s SMP.
