BHC was tasked with updating the Town of South Cle Elum’s Comprehensive Plan for the 2026 Periodic Update. We updated every element of the Comprehensive Plan, and developed a new Climate Resilience Element focused on wildfire preparedness, a primary concern for community members. We worked closely with the City and community to align the plan with updated legislation and community priorities. We transformed the plan into an accessible and approachable document for people of all levels of planning knowledge to read, primarily by moving technical and background information to the appendices in order for the plan to focus on the goals and policies. We also recommended changes to the Town’s development regulations to ensure consistency with the comprehensive plan and legislative changes. Throughout the planning process, we met with community members through many open houses and community engagement workshops.
