Skykomish
Washington
BHC provided current and long-range planning services to the Town of Skykomish for over 30years, building a long-term partnership that supported the Town through multiple phases of growth and regulatory change. Our work included preparing the Town’s first Shoreline Master Program and subdivision code, preparing multiple rounds of updates to the Comprehensive Plan, preparing zoning code amendments, assisting with SEPA review, conducting consistency review of the Town’s development regulations and permitting process, and developing ordinances for Critical Areas, resource lands, local SEPA guidelines, and ensuring consistency with state requirements. In addition to policy and code development, BHC has assisted the Town with grant writing and successfully secured funding for several of these planning tasks. We also consolidated various regulations into an indexed codebook and compiled and maintained a GIS database for the Town’s use. We worked closely with the Town Planning Commission, Town Council, and citizen advisory committees to make plans, regulations, and development processes more user-friendly and accessible to the public.
