Monroe
Washington
BHC worked with the City of Monroe’s planning staff to develop a set of unified development regulations that are streamlined, user-friendly, and consistent with updates to the City’s Comprehensive Plan. BHC’s work included analyzing the organization of the current code and proposing an integrated framework. The City’s existing code had been cobbled together from Ordinances dating back to1995, and its disjointed structure made it difficult to find relevant information to process development proposals. In addition, the code had not been updated to reflect legislation updates. Our work resulted in a consolidated land use code which was compliant with state law, consistent with the City’s Comprehensive Plan, and easier to understand and administer.
