BHC has supported Issaquah’s Community Planning and Development Department with on-call planning services for many years. BHC expanded the City’s capacity to review large and complex land use proposals and construction permits in a timely manner. We have conducted preapplication meetings with applicants, conducted SEPA environmental reviews, prepared staff reports and decisions, and presented recommendations to the Development Commission and Hearing Examiner. BHC also reviewed permits and prepared conditions for strict compliance with adopted development agreements. Using the City’s permit portal and issuing comments in Bluebeam, our staff have seamlessly integrated with the City’s planning team, permit technicians, engineering staff, and third-party technical reviewers.

Our services have extended beyond permit review to includedevelopment code updates, urban design analysis, and facilitation of publicengagement efforts. Through the years, we have regularly supported boards, commissions,and City Council to ensure that development decisions are consistent,transparent, and aligned with Issaquah’s long-range planning goals.
