About

Since 2022, BHC has been providing on-call planning services to the City of Duvall Planning Division. Our team is well versed in the city’s review procedures, development standards, and design guidelines, and we provide timely review of complex development applications using Bluebeam and the city’s permit tracking system. We coordinate with the internal Development Review Committee and city staff to ensure consistent reviews, including consulting with Public Works staff to provide a coordinated approach to the design of the public realm. Our services include meeting with applicants, issuing comments on architectural plans, preparing staff reports for the Design Review Board and decision making bodies, and recommending conditions of approval. We provide clear, objective design guidance rooted in the city’s adopted design guidelines. When an application includes a request to depart from these strict guidelines, we review the applicant’s rationale against the city’s decision criteria and offer solutions that uphold the intent of the code.

Beyond development review, we have also supported the city’s planning staff by providing on-site inspections, consultation, revisions to the city’s development code, assistance with public hearings, coordination across multiple city departments, and presentations to the planning commission and city council.
