BHC’s design of a new single-port side-bank outfall included Nooksack River modeling, scour analysis, effluent mixing zone calculations; streambank protection; and restoration and mitigation plantings. The project was funded through the Department of Ecology SRF program. Complex multi-agency permitting was required including SEPA, cultural resources, US Army Corps of Engineers 404 permit with formal consultation, a Hydraulic Permit Approval from Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, and a Department of Natural Resources Aquatic Lands Lease.
