BHC lead the construction engineering effort for the 240 mgd floating pump plant and conveyance system in the Cedar River Municipal watershed. In addition to a transportable floating pump station utilizing submersible propeller pumps, the project included an electrical substation trailer, partially floating 48” HDPE pipelines, a pile anchorage system, dike and channel modifications and dredging. The floating pump plant is portable and is mobilized for testing and when required for short periods under drought conditions and utilizes mobile generators to power the pump plant. The new pump plant system provides improved reliability, operator safety, and water quality protection through the new configuration and generator locations away from the reservoir.
