Registration/Certification: Professional Planner, American Institute of Certified Planners

Education: MUP, Master of Urban Planning at University of Washington; Fulbright Scholar, Brandenburg University of Technology, Cottbus Germany; BA, Environmental Studies and German Area Studies at Seattle University

Bio: The Pacific Northwest has been a constant in Katie’s life - evergreens, rain clouds, and the eternal hope for a winning Mariners season. As a kid she loved rolling down the grassy hills at the Ballard Locks and watching boats deftly pass through the gates. As a student, Katie had the opportunity to live and study in Germany, where she broadened her understanding of how cities and their environs function and learned the value of discussing important topics over coffee and cake. Today at BHC, Katie is a land use planner who deftly navigates the topics important to her clients, whether it is helping an urban city manage its growing pains or crafting culturally appropriate zoning regulations for a tribal government. As a professional, Katie’s constants are open lines of communication, a helpful attitude, and most importantly, taking the time to listen. And yes, sometimes listening comes with coffee and cake. When not at work, Katie’s best times are spent watching and coaching soccer with her young sons Malcolm and Eli or exploring a changing Seattle on date nights with her husband Marc.
