Bio: Bard is a civil engineer specializing in solid waste facility engineering. In school, his emphasis was hydraulic and hydrologic analysis and he began his career focusing on stormwater, water, and wastewater facility design. His first solid waste facility experience was designing stormwater facilities for a landfill closure. He now focuses on leading multidisciplinary design teams in all aspects of landfill engineering. Bard was born in Detroit but grew up in northern New Mexico. He and his wife, Jessica, moved to Seattle in 1987 to attend graduate school at UW where they developed close and lasting friendships with several other graduate students and their partners. They raised two children, Zach and Hannah.

Outside of work, Bard’s favorite activities are kayak camping in the San Juan Islands, vacationing on the Oregon Coast, grilling with family and friends, and enjoying a hoppy IPA.
